A retrospective case–case study including 313 patients with lethal prostate cancer (PrCa) and 486 with low-risk localized PrCa demonstrated that BRCA1/2 and ATM PV rates were higher in patients with lethal cancer than localized cancer (6.07% vs. 1.44% p = 0.0007) and highest in patients with lethal PrCa with metastatic disease at the time of diagnosis (8.2%) [96]. This evidence concerns the gene ATM and prostate carcinoma.
