In a pan-cancer HRD prediction study, it was found that biallelic inactivation of BRCA1, BRCA2, RAD51C, or PALB2 is the most common genetic cause of HRD across cancer types, with the inactivation of the latter two genes, RAD51C and PALB2, resulting in the same mutational footprints of BRCA2, the so-called BRCA2-type HRD [89]. This evidence concerns the gene PALB2 and cancer.
