Elastin peptide VGVAPG has been shown to stimulate fibrosarcoma cell invasion through the activation of MMP-2 and uPA [362,363], upregulate MMP-14 and stimulate the angiogenic phenotype of endothelial cells [364] and increase the invasiveness of lung cancer cells by post-transcriptional regulation of MMP-2 and uPA [365]. This evidence concerns the gene MMP2 and lung carcinoma.
