Here, we report results from a prospective biomarker study of patients who underwent curative intended resection for CRC, with the aim to test the hypothesis that elevated pre- and perioperative levels of three inflammatory biomarkers (CRP, IL-6, and YKL-40) have a stronger association with the risk of complications, CRC recurrence, and survival in older patients (≥70 years) than they do in younger patients (<70 years). Here, IL6 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
