The 2016 WHO classification for gliomas introduced molecular profiling, in addition to the traditional histopathological definition, evaluating markers with predictive and/or prognostic value, as the methylation status of O6-methylguanine (O6-MeG)-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) promoter, mutational status of IDH1/2, and presence of 1q-19q codeletion [4]. Here, IDH1 is linked to central nervous system cancer.
