Hypermethylation of SDC2 promoter region is a frequent epigenetic change in the development of colorectal neoplasms, and it has been successfully detected in several types of clinical specimens which include tissue, stool, and serum samples (Barták et al., 2017; Chen et al., 2019; Oh et al., 2013), making it an optimal target for developing a novel diagnostic kit for CRC early detection. This evidence concerns the gene SDC2 and colorectal neoplasm.
