Collectively, these results suggest that the induction of MT1-MMP expression combined with DDR1 downregulation/degradation during the acquisition of mesenchymal features play an important role in the aggressiveness of basal breast cancer cells and could accordingly be considered as a potential prognosis biomarker (Figure 2) (Saby et al., 2019).
