Among them, HMCN1 (hemicentin-1), encoding a fibrillar extracellular matrix glycoprotein, is up-regulated in the mice with chronic skeletal muscle fibrosis compared to wild type and up-regulated in the human skeletal muscle in response to oral shilajit supplementation (Das et al., 2016; Chapman et al., 2017), suggesting that HMCN1 might be related to the muscle fibrosis. This evidence concerns the gene HMCN1 and fibrosis.
