A hair follicle disease hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), which is dominated by pathological neutrophils, has recently been shown to significantly involve the IL-1 and IL-36 pathways in driving its proinflammatory pathways (152, 153) IL-1β-driven transcription present in HS lesions was found to induce immune cell infiltration to lesions and extracellular matrix degradation (152). The gene discussed is IL1A; the disease is histiocytic sarcoma.
