Accumulating evidence indicates that TRPV4 is involved in a variety of lung diseases, including cough (Bonvini et al., 2016; Bonvini and Belvisi, 2017), asthma (Yao et al., 2019), COPD (Baxter et al., 2014), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) (Riteau et al., 2010), and acute respiratory distress syndrome (Balakrishna et al., 2014). The gene discussed is TRPV4; the disease is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
