Hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases that often develop into HF are known to increase levels of endothelin-1 (Miyauchi et al., 1989; Yasuda et al., 1990; Tsuji et al., 1991; Bohm and Pernow, 2007) and angiotensin-II (Gray et al., 1998; Strawn et al., 2000; Molkentin and Dorn II, 2001; Ayabe et al., 2006; Palaniyandi et al., 2009). This evidence concerns the gene EDN1 and cardiovascular disorder.
