Kidney dysfunction, e.g., Chronic kidney disease (CKD), results in mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD), a systemic condition that links disorders of mineral and bone metabolism to either one or all of the following: abnormalities of calcium, phosphorus, PTH, or vitamin D metabolism, abnormalities in bone turnover, mineralization, volume, linear growth or strength, and extraskeletal calcification (Zhou et al., 2013; Zhou and Glowacki, 2017). Here, PTH is linked to chronic kidney disease.
