Recently, Li et al. suggested that YY1 prevented proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator-1β (PGC-1β) expression by directly binding to its promoter, thereby inhibiting the oxidation of fatty acid β, which led to the accumulation of lipid in HCC cells and induced the carcinogenic potentiality of HCC cells. This evidence concerns the gene PPARGC1B and hepatocellular carcinoma.
