Reductions in CRP and ferritin following anakinra treatment have also been observed in patients with COVID-19-associated acute respiratory distress syndrome, a potentially similar cytokine-mediated hyperinflammatory syndrome.19 Interestingly, Strati and colleagues recently reported similar findings by demonstrating a reduction of the CRP area under the curve in patients with CAR T-cell therapy-associated toxicity who responded to anakinra.13 This evidence concerns the gene CRP and COVID-19.
