NPPB and COVID-19: Cardiac involvement includes isolated biomarker elevations such as troponin and brain natriuretic peptide, myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, myocardial inflammation and myocarditis, and thromboembolic events as well as heart failure and cardiogenic shock.6 The prevalence and short-term implications of myocardial injury in hospitalized COVID-19 patients have been investigated, although many questions remain regarding its mechanisms, optimal treatment strategies, and long-term consequences for cardiovascular health after recovery.
