Recently, gain-of-function (GOF) mutations in STAT3 have been observed in patients with leukemia and lymphoma, and the most common site for these somatic mutations occurs in the Src homology 2 (SH2) domain, highlighting the importance of STAT3 as a valuable target in hematologic cancers (Klein et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and hematopoietic and lymphoid cell neoplasm.
