Immunohistochemical detection of PHF20L1 in 29 tumor tissues from different patients with epithelial ovarian cancer showed increased expression of the protein (Fig. 1; Additional file 2: Fig. S2) compared to control tissues (cancer-free tissues) where the expression was very low (the immunoreactive score values were considered negative and low for these two tissues) (H1 and H2, Additional file 6: Table S1). The gene discussed is PHF20L1; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
