To our knowledge, this is the first case–control study conducted on COVID-19 patients that addressed the role of genetic polymorphisms in GSTP1. Namely, so far only one study based on the univariable analysis of the World Bank data showed that countries with more frequent Val105 allele have higher prevalence and mortality of COVID-19 (Saadat, 2020b). This evidence concerns the gene GSTP1 and COVID-19.
