Apart from the extensive research on the role of polymorphic GSTP1 expression in various cancers, including lung cancers (Nørskov et al., 2017; Pljesa-Ercegovac et al., 2018; van de Wetering et al., 2021), several studies have also examined the association of these polymorphic variants with susceptibility or outcome in a range of communicable and non-communicable lung diseases (McMillan et al., 2016; van de Wetering et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene GSTP1 and lung carcinoma.
