A single intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.)injection of FGF1 into the lateral ventricle of diabetic rodent models, such as db/db or ob/ob mice and Zucker diabetic fatty rats (ZDF), induces a short-term reduction in food intake and chronic reduction in hyperglycemia, lasting up to 18 weeks in leptin-deficient ob/ob mice (6–8). This evidence concerns the gene FGF1 and Hyperglycemia.
