Of relevance, while previous studies have speculated that suppression of β-catenin pathway and dephosphorylation of Akt are involved in the anti-breast cancer effects of adiponectin [49, 50], our study sheds light on a novel mechanistic model elucidating how adiponectin inhibits the signaling pathways involved in the survival of the breast cancer cells. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is breast cancer.
