In this study, we also observed that both AMPK and SIRT-1 signaling were required for the suppression of mTOR and FAS-regulated genes by adiponectin (Fig. S6 and Fig. 6, respectively), further supporting the notion that AMPK activation and SIRT-1 induction coordinate to reprogram fatty acid metabolism in adiponectin-treated breast cancer cells. The gene discussed is SIRT1; the disease is breast cancer.
