CD4 and AIDS: Having < 200 CD4 cells/μl (OR 2.7, 95% CI 1.5–5.0; P = 0.001), not washing hands after contact with soil (OR 3.1, 95% CI 1.5–6.4; P = 0.002), not washing hands before eating (OR 3.7, 95% CI 2.0–6.6; P < 0.001), eating unwashed raw produce (OR 2.1, 95% CI 1.2–3.7; P = 0.015) and absence of indoor latrines (OR 13.5, 95% CI 4.8–38.3; P < 0.001) were significantly associated with intestinal microsporidiosis among HIV/AIDS patients.
