Compared with women without breast cancer, women with breast cancer had significantly higher levels of all systemic measured cytokines with an exception for granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (GCSF) and interferon-gamma (IF-γ). Three cytokines (GCSF, IL-6, and IL-17) were able to discriminate between the breast cancer and control groups. The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is breast cancer.
