It has been reported that treatment with a TRPA1 antagonist (HC-030031) can decrease the number and the amplitude of nonvoiding contractions (NVCs), an important parameter associated with the OAB etiology, induced by spinal cord injury (SCI) [37]; it was also found that SCI-caused bladder tissue damage, inflammation, and increases in the number of NVCs were associated with upregulation of TRPA1 protein and mRNA levels [37]. This evidence concerns the gene TRPA1 and spinal cord injury.
