Even short periods of CR (3 weeks) were able to prevent the development of isoproterenol-induced cardiac hypertrophy via the reduction of ROS generation (decreased H2O2 and lower protein sulfhydryl oxidation) and the preservation of the antioxidant enzymes (i.e., catalase, SOD, and GPX) activity, respectively (David et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene SOD1 and cardiac hypertrophy.
