AQP4 and cerebral amyloid angiopathy: Aβ accumulation in capillaries, associated with cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), also affect NVU astrocytes to cause mislocalization of AQP-4 expression (Wilcock et al., 2009), which was consistent with the acute accumulation of Aβ around swelling astrocytic endfeet as shown in our present study.
