To address the urgent need for new nano-oriented approaches in anti-angiogenic therapies [27], we have recently built up NPs of PEG-poly(ε-caprolactone) (PEG-PCL) surface-modified with the anti-angiogenic anti-FLT1 hexapeptide (aFLT1, GNQWFI), which selectively binds VEGFR1 isoform expressed in tumor dysfunctional capillaries [28, 29].
