In fact, a recent study3 comprised of 124 patients with COVID‐19 (49% with obesity; 37% with type 2 diabetes) has confirmed the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome upon acquisition of infection with SARS‐CoV‐2 and that NLRP3 inflammasome was active in this patient population. Here, NLRP3 is linked to COVID-19.
