As SIRT3 and SIRT5 share the similar subcellular location and targets, maybe due to their compensated functions, neither Sirt3 nor Sirt5 knockout altered host defenses against bacterial infection (Ciarlo et al., 2017; Heinonen et al., 2018), but dual deficiency of SIRT3 and SIRT5 exhibited a modest protection against listeriosis host defense (Heinonen et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene SIRT3 and listeriosis.
