Interestingly, A20 induced by LMP1 has a negative regulatory effect on IRF7 by directly binding to reduce ubiquitination of IRF7 and inhibit its activity (Laherty et al., 1992; Ning and Pagano, 2010), which seems that IRF7 is subject to a variety of complex regulation in the case of EBV infection and it may benefit the latent infection of EBV in the host and promote the carcinogenic effect on the host. The gene discussed is IRF7; the disease is Epstein-Barr virus infection.
