ALB and malnutrition: As above mentioned, inflammation and hypermetabolism caused by hip fracture may worsen the malnutrition status in geriatric patients.[1,2] Serum albumin level is highly associated with nutritional status and has long been used as a marker for nutritional status.[6,22–24] Hübner et al[25] reported that early drop of postoperative serum albumin may reflect the magnitude of surgical trauma, and is correlated to clinical outcomes.
