In hypertensive rats fed a high salt diet, puerarin treatment markedly improved acetylcholine mediated vasorelaxation through inhibiting the master inflammatory NF‐κB activation and inducing insulin‐sensing a serine/threonine protein kinase Akt and endothelial nitric synthase (eNOS) activation; and this treatment also prevented adverse cardiovascular remodeling, including cardiac hypertrophy, cardiac fibrosis, and arterial thickening.26 Here, AKT1 is linked to cardiac hypertrophy.
