Scientific studies indicate that coffee consumption may exert colorectal cancer protection [10], which could be due to the capacity of coffee constituents to inhibit the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) pathway in colon cancer cells [11], suppress the activity of T-LAK cell-originated protein kinase (TOPK) [12], and inhibit neoplastic cell transformation [13] and colon cancer metastasis by attenuating phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERKs) [14].
