LGALS3 and neoplasm: N-acetylactosamine and its derivatives bind to the galectin-3 protein [20]; therefore the aforementioned beneficial effect of glycosylation, the use of this carbohydrate molecule can provide an opportunity for the synthesis of a dual-targeting radiopharmaceutical [21] since galectin-3 is also overexpressed in various tumor cells [22], for example in melanoma [23].
