In a model of intracerebral hemorrhage, growth factors with neurotrophic activity, which are a part of the secretome, could provide immediate neuroprotection to damaged neurons via the activation of protective ras/erk and PI3K cascades, as well as blocking proapoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins (Bax, Bak) [32,33]. This evidence concerns the gene BAK1 and intracerebral hemorrhage.
