Findings in a primate model with active and latent TB define a molecular clock rate of ∼0.3–0.5 SNPs/year (Ford et al., 2011), which are consistent with the estimated 0.3–0.5 SNP changes per year per genome from epidemiological studies (Pérez-Lago et al., 2014; Guerra-Assunção et al., 2015a). This evidence concerns the gene CLOCK and tuberculosis.
