Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory conditions of the skin, concerning colonization of P. acnes, and subsequent activation of immune cells (Vowels et al., 1995), then ensuing excessive secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α which in turn results in inflammatory cascade and tissue injury (Vowels et al., 1995; Dréno, 2017). The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is acne.
