The comparison of the dominance of CD4 + versus CD8 + cells in pure DCIS and invasive cancer revealed that the infiltration of CD4 + TILs was higher than of CD8 + in pure DCIS (p < 0.001), while the reverse was true in invasive breast cancer with the CD8 + TILs being the dominant subset (p = 0.006) [4]. The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is ductal breast carcinoma in situ.
