AKT1 and myocardial infarction: In STZ-Nicotinamide-induced diabetic mice with permanent ligation of left anterior, puerarin promoted survival rate, restored cardiac function, augmented the expression and translocation of glucose transporter 4 and the phosphorylation of Akt, as well as decreased the expression of CD36 and PPAR α, suggesting that puerarin is able to improve cardiac dysfunction in diabetic patients after MI (Cheng et al., 2015).
