The upregulation of the integrins GPIIb (CD41) and GPIIIa (CD61) and the von Willebrand factor (VWF) receptor subunits, GPIbα and GPIX, known to regulate platelet–leukocyte interactions, together with P-selectin may contribute to exacerbate the inflammatory response in COVID-19 patients [44,46,47].
