TAMs are recruited by various cytokines and chemokines secreted by cancer cells, such as monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (Mcp-1) and colony stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1) and are often the main cause of poor prognosis in multiple types of tumor such as colon cancer [71,72,73,74].
