Currently, a variety of drugs affecting the cytokines and pathways are essential in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis (AD) and are in the clinical trials phase, whereas dupilumab targeting interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-13 (IL-13), tralokinumab targeting IL-13 and two Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi): upadacitinib (JAK1 inhibitor) and baricitinib (JAK1/JAK2 inhibitor), are already registered in the EU [3,4]. The gene discussed is JAK1; the disease is atopic eczema.
