CD14+ DCs, a subpopulation of DCs present in the blood of HCC patients, can release large amounts of IL-10 in response to LPS, and neutralizing the anti-IL-10 mAb can significantly reduce the immune-suppressive activity of CD14+DCs, thus implying that they suppress T cell responses in part through IL-10 production. The gene discussed is CD14; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
