To safeguard genome integrity under such conditions, cells mobilize HR factors, including BRCA1, BRCA2, RAD51, RAD51 paralogs, and Fanconi anemia pathways’ proteins, which all synergize to protect highly vulnerable nascent DNA during persistent fork stalling [28,53,65,66,67,68,69,70] (Figure 2).
