In Indian traditional medicine it is known to hamper the release of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin E2, IL-6, IL-1β, TNFα, and nitric oxide and to prevent a number of conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, bronchial asthma, ulcerative colitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, psoriasis, and Crohn’s disease [18].
