Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, also referred to as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis or chronic autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT), is a chronic autoimmune thyroid disorder characterized by increased titers of thyroid autoantibodies against thyroid peroxidase (Anti-TPOAb) and/or thyroglobulin (Anti-TgAb), lymphocytes infiltration, and thyroid tissue destruction [1,2]. This evidence concerns the gene TPO and Hashimoto thyroiditis.
