The aim of this study was to evaluate novel markers of kidney injury, insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP-7) and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 2 (TIMP-2), and examine their relationship with other emerging indicators of tubular damage (e.g., urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, NGAL monomer, urinary cystatin C), as well as established measures of renal function (serum creatinine, cystatin C, and respective estimated glomerular filtration rate, eGFR) among MM patients with and without renal impairment (RI), and at various stages of MM progression. This evidence concerns the gene TIMP2 and Miyoshi myopathy.
