FOLR1 was reported to be significantly elevated in sera of ovarian cancer patients compared to both healthy controls and benign gynecological conditions and may be a new biomarker for ovarian cancer [33]; however, there were no studies that validated FOLR1 as a reliable serum biomarker for pancreatic cancer in a large cohort of patient samples. This evidence concerns the gene FOLR1 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
