As miR-34a is reported to promote EMT in primary biliary cholangitis by regulating the transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1/SMAD pathway [13], the contribution of p53 to the inhibitory effect of SB, an inhibitor of the SMAD pathway, on miR-34a-induced EMT in A549 cells was examined. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and biliary liver cirrhosis.
