In B lymphocytes, upon infection, EBV gp350 interacts with complement C3d receptor 2 (CR2), located on the surface of B cells, followed by EBV gp42 binding with major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules, culminating in the fusion of the virus and cell membrane [9,21,22,23,24]. The gene discussed is CR2; the disease is infection.
