Both quercetin and kaempferol reduce the psoriatic symptoms in the murine imiquimod-induce skin damage like psoriasis model, and although both flavonoids share the decrease of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-17 (cytokines related with psoriasis) the mechanisms involved in the activity of both compounds it is different because quercetin is related with their antioxidant properties and their capacity to regulates the expression of key molecules in psoriasis, and, on the other hand, the anti-psoriatic activity of kaempferol is closely related with the modulation of inflammation in the psoriatic tissue. This evidence concerns the gene IL17A and psoriasis.
